How Are Flexible and Lightweight Solar Modules Installed? 560W Roof Project Guide

Direct answer: Installation must be selected from the roof condition, module configuration and project engineering—not from the word “lightweight” alone.

1. Start with the Two 560W Configurations

Frameless flexible: 2260 × 1200 × 2.7 mm, 8.4 kg, 3.1 kg/m² and a minimum bending radius of 0.5 m. It may be considered for suitable curved or load-constrained roofs after assessment.

Framed lightweight: 2260 × 1245 × 25 mm, 13.5 kg and 4.8 kg/m². It may be considered for suitable flat or low-slope roofs using applicable rails and clamps.

2. Method One: Adhesive Installation for the Frameless Module

For suitable projects, an approved structural-adhesive system may fix the frameless module to a compatible roof substrate or aluminium-tube substructure. This does not mean every roof can use a penetration-free design. Confirm substrate compatibility, surface condition and preparation, adhesive specification, curing conditions, drainage, waterproofing, wind loads and installation controls.

3. Method Two: Rails and Clamps for the Framed Module

The framed lightweight configuration may use applicable rails with single- or double-clamp arrangements. Verify rail layout, clamp position, tightening requirements, roof connection details and structural loads. Lower module weight does not remove the engineering review.

4. Additional Checks for Curved Roofs

The frameless module may conform during installation to a suitable continuous curve with a published minimum bending radius of 0.5 m. It is not intended for repeated or cyclic bending. Confirm the measured radius, continuity, local transitions, potential stress concentrations and the stability of the bonding surface.

5. Pre-Installation Checklist

  • Roof type, substrate, dimensions, slope and curvature.
  • Allowable structural load and local wind and snow conditions.
  • Corrosion, contamination and surface-preparation requirements.
  • Drainage, waterproofing, maintenance routes and construction access.
  • Target capacity, module layout and electrical design.
  • Local codes and responsibility for design, installation and acceptance.

6. Verified Project Reference: Tangshan Jinzhou Steel Plant

The 2.5 MW project in Tangshan, Hebei uses X-SOLAR flexible modules and an adhesive fixing system on a continuous curved industrial metal roof. It is completed and grid-connected, and project-level structural capacity and wind-load checks were completed. This is a relevant engineering reference, but every new project still requires its own roof, structure, wind, substrate and fixing assessment. View the full project case.

7. How to Choose

For curved or load-constrained roofs, first evaluate the frameless flexible configuration. For flat or low-slope roofs suited to conventional mounting, evaluate the framed lightweight configuration. The final design must be confirmed by qualified project professionals for the actual site conditions.
